We hop out of our beds in the morning when we don’t feel like it.
We go to our jobs even when we feel sick.
We keep our promises to attend social engagements even when it’s inconvenient to do so.
In fact, there are a myriad of ways in which we routinely sacrifice ourselves by engaging in activities that we simply don’t feel like doing.
Because we know there’s a pay off. We know there’s a paycheck or some other kind of reward that awaits us down the road.
We often forget, however, that this same principle is true of the psychological and spiritual investments we can make towards our inner well-being.
Sometimes we knock ourselves out in order to fulfill obligations while we throw away opportunities to build better futures for ourselves because of reasons that we’d never accept as valid excuses for calling in to work.
Let’s put away such practices. Our happiness, our dreams, our health is so much more important than that. Let’s resolve to do whatever it takes to make the best of ourselves.
Let’s treat our future like we treat our jobs.
Let’s make the committment to showing up everyday and doing the work that will make us come alive.
Are you with me?
