Bullshit

“How can I set free anyone who doesn’t have the guts to stand up alone and declare his own freedom? I think it’s a lie – people claim they want to be free – everybody insists that freedom is what they want the most, the most sacred and precious thing a man can possess. But that’s bullshit! People are terrified to be set free – they hold on to their chains. They fight anyone who tries to break those chains. It’s their security…How can they expect me or anyone else to set them free if they don’t really want to be free?” -Jim Morrison

If you regard self-help and self-determination as bullshit, then what is your definition of non-bullshit? Self-destruction? Self-apathy? Self-loathing? Self-hate?

Not being happy is bullshit.

Not having inner peace is bullshit.

Being stuck with a life you hate is bullshit.

Delaying your dreams until someone supports you is bullshit.

Denying your future because your past was crappy is bullshit.

Giving up because someone said some bullshit to you is bullshit.

Choosing not to get help because you’re convinced ahead of time that nothing will work is bullshit.

Refusing to take risks because you know some guy that got ripped off before is bullshit.

YES, there is bullshit in the world. BUT Ignoring what works because you’re too focused on bullshit is also bullshit.

The existence of bullshit is not an excuse to throw in the towel; it’s a challenge to get off our butts and do the hard work that’s necessary to push past all the counterfeit crap in our quest to find what’s truly effective.

Stop looking at messages of hope as bullshit and start looking at your apathy, complacency, and misery as bullshit.

Do the work. Do your research. Do whatever it takes to find the answers, solutions, and strategies you need.

But please don’t bullshit yourself out of the life you deserve just because we live in a world where there’s bullshit. In my opinion, THAT would be the example act of bullshit.
