Dodging bullets is not the goal

Morpheus: “I won’t lie to you, Neo. Every single man or woman who has stood their ground, everyone who has fought an agent has died…I’ve seen an agent punch through a concrete wall. Men have emptied entire clips at them and hit nothing but air. Yet their strength and their speed are still based in a world that is built on rules. Because of that, they will never be as strong or as fast as you can be.

Neo: “What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?”

Morpheus: “No, Neo. I’m trying to tell you that when you’re ready, you won’t have to.”

-The Matrix

Self-help philosophy wont help you dodge every bullet.

Every bit of advice, no matter who or where it comes from, has at least one special scenario towards which it fails to apply.

There’s no dosage of wisdom that wont let you down one day, because there will always be people, problems, and paradoxes that will “throw you off” and force you to improvise.

For better or worse, life never goes according to script.

Here’s today’s two cents:

You don’t need an insight that answers all questions. You don’t need an idea that solves every problem. You don’t need a strategy that’s useful at all times, and you don’t need a plan that will protect you from ever feeling discomfort. The goal of personal development isn’t to dodge every bullet. The goal is to deepen the confidence you have in the unconditional nature of your own personal power.

  1. awesome movie which parallels so many of our real life realities, when we come into our own self actualization we learn to fly instead of operating in the normal confines that keep us subdued in the mundane instead of our optimal state!

    1. You stated that so profoundly, Fred. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Let’s keep rising above the illusion of limitation as we reclaim our true identity as creators 🙂
