We all have Grinches in our lives–people who seek to inflict pain and suffering on others because they haven’t learned how to cope with their own angst.
Grinches aren’t bad to the bone.
Grinches are good people just like everyone else. They’re just hurt. And as the saying goes, “hurt people hurt people.”
And just like the story, we can’t deal with Grinches merely by hoping they wont show up.
They WILL show up and, true to their name, they will do whatever they can to take away the things that make us happy.
I love what Lou Lou Who has to say about that when it happened to the people of Whoville:
“I’m glad he took our presents. You can’t hurt Christmas, Mr. Mayor, because it isn’t about the… the gifts or the contest or the fancy lights. That’s what Cindy’s been trying to tell everyone… and me. I don’t need anything more for Christmas than this right here: my family.”
Here’s today’s two cents:
Happiness is not rooted in the things that can be taken from you.
It’s rooted in the attitude that you take to things.
Take an ungrateful heart to the greatest party in the world and it’s bound to be a horrible time.
Take a thankful spirit, an optimistic mind, and a creative imagination with you wherever you go and there wont be a Grinch in the world that can steal your joy…on this day or any other day
At least that’s the way I see it.
Holiday cheers to you all,
