An expectation is when you anticipate or demand a specific result.
An agreement is when two or more parties express their expectations to each other and then make promises to fulfill them.
While all agreements are based on expectations, all expectations are not based on agreements.
Here’s today’s two cents:
An agreement will always take you further than an expectation.
In life, we don’t get what we deserve. We get what we take responsibility for creating.
A reasonable assumption is not a substitute for an acknowledged agreement. And an unmet expectation is not the same as a broken promise.
If you’re hoping something might happen, if you believe something will happen, or if you need something to happen, make your expectations known and don’t assume anything until you’ve received an actual commitment from the individual or group you’re expecting something from.
