If you are not creating, then you are condemned to live in a world in which your convictions, your ideals, and your personal notions of beauty are left unrepresented.
In what sense can the world be said to be yours if it hasn’t been moved and shaped by the energy of what makes YOU laugh, what makes YOU contemplate, what makes YOU dance, what makes YOU feel the awe of being alive?
The right to create is as fundamental as the fact of our existence. As long as we are alive, we have the permission and power to make our presence felt.
The world belongs to you as much as it belongs to anyone else.
You are free, as Terence McKenna wrote, to “create your own roadshow.”
Do not worship the gods and heroes of culture. Build your own icons. Make up your own myths. Start your own walk of fame. Be your own gossip magazine and celebrate only those stars whose light is devoted to illuminating your own brilliance.
