There are two fundamental approaches you can take towards personal development.
The first approach is when you focus on getting better because you see yourself as a bad person who needs to be fixed.
The second approach is when you focus on getting better because you see yourself as a person filled with potential and you’re determined to bring forth your capacity for greatness.
If you adopt the first approach, you’ll probably never find what you’re looking for. Self-improvement isn’t possible without self-respect. Until you learn to love yourself for who you already are, you’re building an edifice of personal development without a foundation.
Creativity only happens when the creator sees himself or herself as having something to work with. If you want to create positive changes in your life, start by learning to appreciate the positive elements that are already present within you.
The only reason you’re capable of getting better is because there’s a part of your nature that was designed to help you do that very thing.
