Maria Popova was asked “Before you begin to write, do you have any pre-game rituals or practices?”
Her response: “Given I write several thousand words each day, there’s no room for “pre-gaming.”
The “game” IS the ritual.”
Do you want to know how to get prepared for that thing you want to do? Do it!
Until you do it, it’s not real. It’s just a theory you’re working on. It’s the doing it that gives it flesh and blood. It’s the doing it that transforms it into something of substance.
Being prepared doesn’t come before creating. It’s comes while creating.
