Authenticity & Acceptability

Honesty is necessary for personal growth, but it’s not sufficient.

Being real is the first step towards dealing with what’s wrong. The second step is learning how to build the right habits and do the rights things.

“I’m authentic about where I am” ≠ “I’m acceptable as I am.”

  1. very true! We have to be real but then we must have courage and willingness to adopt the right practices to sustain change.

  2. Thanks, T.K.! I’m currently in the mindset that humility complements honesty for personal growth. So I see that “learning how to build the right habits and do the rights things,” which I would call wisdom, could also be qualities of humility. Proverbs 11:2 confirms this: “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
