“Follow your passion” does not mean “do what feels good” or “do what’s fun.”
“Follow your passion” means “do what’s consistent with your values” and “do what expresses, embodies, or advances your core philosophy.”
“Follow your passion” is another way of saying “follow your priorities.”
Measuring the importance of an activity by how much fun we’re having while performing it, is an unreliable indicator of what our highest priorities are. Some of the things that are most important to us, are the things that require the hardest amount of work and the greatest amount of sacrifice.
The things we are most passionate about are the things we commit to doing even when they don’t feel easy and exciting.
Follow your passion, but don’t expect to feel passionate about every aspect of following your passion.
