How to Be a Good Friend

Live in accordance with your own highest ideals and form alliances with those who share or support those ideals.

Instead of trying to be a “good friend”, which can easily turn you into a fickle-minded servant of other people’s sensitivities and expectations, decide, based on your own principles and priorities, what kind of friend you would like to be. Then befriend those who can appreciate and accept the lifestyle you’ve already decided to live.

Don’t form your values and convictions to suit your relationships. Form your relationships to suit your values and convictions.
